HYDROMULCHING
Estalishment of grass is usually done using a hydromulching unit in which wood fibre, seed and fertiliser are mixed before being sprayed onto areas to be seeded.
Advantages of Hydromulching
The advantage of this technique is that a quicker and more even germination is achieved as the wood fibre provides moisture retention for the seed and the spray application ensures an even distribution of seed.

One of the most economical and successful approaches for establishing grass on golf courses, bowling greens and playing fields, hydrosprigging is very popular in the USA. Similarly to hydromulching, wood fibres, fertiliser, sprigs seed are mixed with water and then sprayed as a slurry onto prepared surfaces.
Advantages
Usual golf course practice is to establish vegetation from seed which is applied by hand, by a conventional seeder or with a hydromulcher. Although careful maintenance can establish good growth in a short time, the use of sprigs or stolons with hydromulching can enhance the operation and provide superior results.
